About High Marks Prep

Reimagining Classical
Education

Our unique approach leans heavily on classical education.

Why?

Because students become critical thinkers by reading, discussing, and writing about the profound ideas found within classical texts. The ideas found in our selected literature touch on all of human experience and that prepare students for success beyond high school.

Unlike other tutoring companies that focus only on test scores, at at High Marks Prep we dive deeper into how students learn. And how to build the endurance to keep learning beyond high school.

Our program ensures students achieve higher standardized test scores and college admission. But we go further than that. High Marks Prep students become critical thinkers, creative problem-solvers, and thoughtful communicators. Qualities that are essential for success on whatever path they take through life.

Mission

Provide a college and test prep service that looks at our students as individuals with a voice and a purpose, who only need the guidance to find it and to learn the skill set to use it.

Vision

To see all students become better educated, more engaged, and more disciplined thinker. We teach students how to analyze language, discuss ideas, and write well because we know that high test scores and choice college admissions follow.

And beyond that–we know that what students learn from High Marks Prep is essential for their success anywhere they go in life.

About Dr. Matt Jette

matt jette

Dr. Jette grew up in small town America–but his life was far from being a Norman Rockwell painting.

From the start, Matt was in and out of hospitals with health complications that only grew increasingly worse as he grew up. Why and how was often unclear to him and his doctors. As a result, Matt struggled in school, failed many of his high school classes, and almost failed to graduate high school.

Soon after high school, while working two full time jobs, Matt suffered a heart attack and then found himself on dialysis. He received his kidney transplant on December 31, 1992 from his identical twin/triplet brother.

It would seem to many that this would lead to a downward turn. But Matt was determined.

Overcoming challenges

In 1993, Matt began his academic career at the University of Montana, where he would graduate with his bachelor’s degree in three years, bike across the United States, start a non-profit, be voted a community hero for the state of Montana, and earn his graduate degree also from the University of Montana.

But the Matt was tested again when diagnosed with cancer. He also discovered around this time that the challenges he faced all throughout his academic career were due to learning disabilities he was finally diagnosed with.

He created strategies to help himself overcome and manage his disabilities. And despite receiving two more cancer diagnoses over the years, he went on to earn his MPA from Harvard and his PhD from Arizona State University. He worked at several Fortune 500 companies before he turned his attention to education. Determined to research and understand the American education system, he became a high school teacher at public, charter, and private schools, where he explored the intricacies of our education system.

Matt now brings what he has learned as a student, teacher, professor, and researcher to the students who not only want to improve their class grades and prepare for standardized tests, but also for those interested in becoming life-long learners. Matt’s college prep programs are based on his discoveries after years of research and work in education, and tailored to world-renowned professors look for at some of the most elite schools in the world.

High Marks Prep students excel on the standardized tests, create winning college applications, and stand out from their peers in the increasingly competitive college application process.
