Seminar Classes + Essay Instruction

Where students think critically + write to cut through

In two-hour seminar, students explore, discuss, and write about the meaning, context, and nature of a selected piece literature or philosophy.

The texts we explore teach and equip scholars who want to become better writers, speakers, and thinkers. Our seminars are designed to make students active participants with the text. Students explore new ideas, challenge the author’s themes and arguments, and confidence in their ability to accurately understand texts.

Critical Thinking + Writing Ability

Students face increasingly complex ideas as they continue their education. They need to be able to read any text and determine the meaning, themes, and purpose.

The Stand Out Prep prepares students to analyze any text–whether it’s on a standardized test, in an English class, or a science textbook. Our students then learn how to apply their knowledge by writing compelling arguments that meet the rigorous expectations of college professors.

Imagination + Creativity

Imagination and creativity are two of the most important qualities of successful people. Because they’re the driving forces of problemsolving and innovation

We feature literature in our courses because it opens minds to new possibilities. Literature allows students to analyze the world and explore life in ways previously never thought of. Reading literature expands students’ creative and imaginative capabilities–and ultimately aids their future success.

Curiosity + Thoughtfulness

Our seminars on the chosen texts prompt students to tap into their curiosity about the world. Curiosity helps students succeed as they learn the value of embracing thoughtfulness over frustration in the face of new and challenging ideas.

Students in our courses learn how to ask the right questions, find answers or solutions, and enjoy the never-ending process of learning.

Sociability

Students learn patience and humility as they work with others to find a common understanding of texts that takes a range of perspectives to deeply understand.

The ability to discuss ideas calmly and sincerely is essential for students to develop to succeed in college and in their careers.
